PYP 1-5
PYP 1 - 5
At NJIS, we believe every child is capable, curious, and full of potential. Through the Primary Years Programme (PYP), students are empowered to take the lead in their own learning. They ask questions, explore big ideas, and make choices about how they learn best. This is what we call “student agency.” It is where children have voice, choice, and ownership in their learning.
Our teachers play a key role in this journey. They are caring, creative, and highly trained in inquiry-based learning. NJIS staff work closely with students, nurturing their curiosity and helping them grow into confident, caring learners. With a strong belief in each child’s abilities, our teachers create a classroom culture where students feel safe to take risks, reflect and shine.
Taking action is a natural part of learning here at NJIS. Whether it is helping a friend, leading a nature clean-up, designing a community project, or writing a letter to the Head of School to propose a fundraiser, students learn that their ideas and efforts can create real change. Action is personal, meaningful, and often driven by what matters most to them
This journey of learning and growth builds toward a powerful milestone in PYP5, the PYP Exhibition (PYPx). In PYPx, students choose global issues they care about, carry out their own research and take authentic action. It is a celebration of everything they have learned and who they are becoming as learners, leaders and changemakers.
At NJIS, our students do not just learn about different subjects and the world. They learn how to shape it with heart, courage and purpose, with our dedicated teachers walking beside them every step of the way.
